Establish a Competitive Multi-stage Cycling Event Like the Tour de France

The Link Trail crosses interesting terrain and utilizes ideal roads for cyclists to see the heartland of the nation. More than that, it presents an opportunity to develop an exciting international competitive cycling event, similar to the Tour de France.

With stages that descend the Appalachian Mountains, roll through the foothills and Tennessee Valley, cross the Mississippi River, traverse the Interior Highlands, wander through New Mexico's volcanic landscape, and pass through the Sangre de Cristo range before concluding in the picturesque Rocky Mountains, coverage of the tour will be an amazing spectacle for the world to see. Each day of the three-week event will end in a uniquely American location - Chattanooga, Tupelo, Memphis, the Mississippi Delta, Little Rock, Dallas, historic Route 66, the Southern Great Plains, Black Mesa, Santa Fe, Chimayo and Taos Pueblo.

Chapter Organizations will be instrumental in exploring and determining routes in the vicinity of the organization. As the plan becomes a reality, it will be necessary for Chapter Organizations to appoint a representative from the area who is knowledgeable about competitive cycling in order to develop local outreach committees for the international event.
